The North American Distribution Marketing group comprises associates working in the areas of Strategic Marketing, Campaign Management, Media Relations, Digital and Insights & Analytics.  Operating in close partnership with Distribution and Investment Services, these groups gather insights into our clients and competitors, develop strategies for positioning Capital Group in the marketplace, and communicate messages designed to share our point of view and differentiate us in a crowded and highly competitive field.
As a Senior Financial Writer, you will collaborate with our sales, product and broader marketing teams to create appropriate content for our portfolio construction and wealth management products (e.g., models, sleeves, SMAs, mutual funds, etc.). The successful candidate will have a portfolio of editorial content that exemplifies superb writing and communication skills – from succinct promotional and digital copy to long-form articles or reports − and a demonstrated ability to translate complex ideas into compelling, audience- and media-appropriate communications. 
  • Collaborate with content stakeholders, investment professionals and internal subject matter experts to establish key objectives, strategies and themes for content. 
  • Develop clear, concise and emotive messages across a variety of media, including web content, social media, paid media, print, video interviews, presentations, white papers, webinars interactive online tools and apps.  
  • Research statistical, product, audience and other relevant information to successfully develop messages and strategies. 
  • Keep abreast of company, industry and regulatory changes, and internal initiatives.
  • Ensure content adheres to corporate brand standards, style guides, and legal and compliance guidelines.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional writing experience, with at least 5 years of financial services industry. Portfolio construction and financial product experience is a plus.   
  • Demonstrated track record of creating successfully resonate content and strategic initiatives that include a wide variety of media, especially digital. 
  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities, including the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at one time while meeting rigorous deadlines − utilizing a content management tool. 
  • Must have a track record of sound judgment in resolving matters of moderate complexity. 
  • Strong team player with a demonstrated ability of working with a diverse group of people, including the creative team (e.g., writers, designers, copy editors, project leads, etc.) as well as key stakeholders who are subject matter experts and senior leaders. 
  • A bachelor’s degree required; emphasis on journalism, marketing, economics or related field strongly preferred.
