Investment Product Development is part of Investment Services, a department within North American Distribution. Its mission is to manage the investment product develop process in order to ensure that new ideas are generated, evaluated and developed in support of Capital’s mission to improve people’s lives through successful investing. It does this by working across Capital within Distribution, Investment Group and Operations to lead projects and take ideas through the product development process and into the marketplace.

As an Investment Product Development Manager you will serve as a key member of the Investment Services team at Capital. Your primary responsibilities will be to lead development projects driving teams to design, evaluate and develop new investment services concepts. You will also manage and develop the skills of product development specialists who will contribute to project management and help you oversee the product development portfolio and overall product development process.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead product development projects by assembling and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Drive for results throughout the development process, ensuring engagement of the project team and maintaining momentum toward deadlines.
  • Challenge assumptions, continually test concepts and drive teams to critically think about new development efforts
  • Manage and develop Product Development Specialists
  • Manage a pipeline of ideas through the stages of the development process
  • Monitor industry trends and adoption of existing products working within Investment Services and Insights and Analytics to draw out learnings and implications.
  • Look to continually identify areas to improve the product development process with the aim of driving better and more efficient decision making.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Advanced degree (MBA or other) a plus
  • Minimum 8 years of development or relevant project management experience
  • Proven success leading development projects or complex programs from proposal to post-implementation close-out
  • Demonstrated ability to build high-performing project teams by effectively leading and providing work direction for others
  • Ability to develop and manage detailed project plans with little direction and to execute in a collaborative manner with extreme attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage people
  • Prior experience in financial services or asset management extremely helpful
